Chem test

My professor seems to be very fond of maelic acid.
C4H4O4.
Or, alternatively:
HOOCCHCHCOOH.

When I look at that, all I see is:
HOOCH.

Whatever happened to, say, HCl or HBrO or H2SO4?

I still laugh at antibody jargon, e.g. "mouse anti-chicken", because of the mental images it conjures. And haven't you ever heard of the mineral cummingtonite [(Mg,Fe)7Si8O22(OH)2]?

Also, Helena Heliotrope is a very nice pseud: is pretty.
