Sight-seeing, Airplane Style

Yesterday, my family flew down to Phoenix to watch my brother graduate from UTI (at the head of his class, no less.) Our plane flight was luckily during the day, so we got an aerial view of some great mountains:

P1280188
Mt. St. Helens

P1280199
Mt. Hood

P1280203
The Three Sisters.

P1280219
I think this is Mt. Wheeler.

I’ve always wanted to see Mt. St. Helens from the air, and I was so excited to spot it!

Awesome views! I've seen Rainier from air and these others and it's a whole different way of seeing the world. Hope you are enjoying the warmth of Phoenix. Say Hi to your family. Today we'll be in Yarnell, about 70 miles north of Phoenix.

Nice set of photos - I'm envious of the good weather and favorable flight path you had. However, I think, based on the glacier and outcrop pattern (comparing with the imagery in Google Earth), that that last photo is the east face of Mount Shasta, in northern California, rather than Mt. Wheeler.

Gaelyn: Phoenix was lovely and warm. My mum says hi!
Ron: Thanks for catching that! Shasta was my other guess, but I thought we were too far east for that, based on some large alkaline areas we passed over - I forgot about all the desert in eastern Oregon. Anyway, thanks :)
